Overview
Island Amplifiers is a full-time independent small business dedicated to designing and building great amplifiers while providing personal and informative service.
All of our amplifiers are built and tested by hand in Canada to extremely high standards.
Power Scaling
We license this technology from London Power. This is a huge part of our "any tone at any volume" mantra.
Get that cranked amp tone while preserving your hearing, keeping the sound guy happy and providing the audience with a more dynamic experience.
Your wife and your neighbors won't complain either. This brilliant circuit actually changes the appropriate voltages in the amp which literally scales the amp down to a smaller wattage amp with almost no change to your tone (unlike with an attenuator or "load box".)
You now have the power to overdrive the power amp, the preamp or both... even at whisper quiet volumes.
All of the tone, much less noise
All of our products are designed from the ground up to be as noise free as possible.
While many people expect tube amplifiers to be noisy, we think that excessive noise is unnecessary and unacceptable. While some companies choose to use noise gates and filters to reduce noise levels, we choose to design the amp properly in the first place and not take the easy way out which just covers-up poor design using circuits that typically reduce the fidelity of your tone.
Good grounding, good design and forward thinking make it all possible.
Reliability
All of our products are designed to greatly improve the reliability and stability of tube circuits. You will find that tubes retain their usable life and stay brighter, longer in our amps than the offerings from the competition.
Flexibility not complexity
What good is an amp if it's difficult to use? We say "play more, tweak less."
Our "typical" controls like treble, mid and bass offer much more flexibility than most other offerings while retaining a familiar response.
